Maryann, an AAI Graduate from Kenya who studied Economics at Keio University in Japan, completed an eight-week internship at Konnect Youth Consortium (KYC) in Kenya in 2023. Her role in the Skills Infusion Program included social media management, financial literacy teaching, and grant research.

Maryann reported, “My internship experience at Konnect Youth Consortium was enriching. Not only did I have the opportunity to apply the skills and knowledge I had acquired to real-life situations, but I also felt valued as a contributing member of the team.”

Notably, Maryann’s social media strategy boosted KYC’s Instagram engagement by 353% and increased followers by 12%. She curated a compelling company profile, implemented tools like Canva and Grammarly, and designed an engaging financial literacy curriculum. “What stood out to me the most was the supportive environment fostered by my supervisor,” she says. “I deeply appreciated the trust and autonomy given to me to explore creative and innovative solutions, all while receiving invaluable guidance and feedback.”
