Hon. James Boliba Baba was recently awarded the “Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star” by the Japanese government. Mr. Baba served as the Ugandan Ambassador to Japan between 2001 to 2005, and was commended for restoring and strengthening bilateral relations between Japan and Uganda during this time. The decoration ceremony took place at Parliament Building in Uganda on June 12th, where Japanese Ambassador to Uganda H.E. Mr. Kazuaki Kameda, also attended. During the ceremony, H.E. Mr. Kazuaki Kameda recognized Hon Baba’s contribution to Ashinaga’s growing support to orphaned children in Uganda.
Hon Baba has been an active Kenjin-Tatsujin member and supported Ashinaga in establishing our facilities in Uganda. Thanks to his support, Ashinaga hosted President Museveni at the opening of the Ashinaga Uganda Rainbow House in 2003. Mr. Baba continues to contribute to the Ashinaga Africa Initiative by giving lectures to our students at the Tokyo Kokorojuku and attending events at Ashinaga Uganda.
